Effects of Progesterone on the Chloroform Toxicity

Abstract
|
|
|
In this experiment, the toxicity of chloroform of the mouse and the effect of chloroform on the serum GOT and GPT activities, blood sugar level and total cholesterol content of the rabbits pretreated with progesterone for 7 days were investigated.
The results obtained were as follows;
1. The LDSO of chloroform to mice pretreated with progesterone was decreased .The increased serum ,GOT, GPT activities induced by chloroform were more increased by the pretreatment of progesterone.
3. The increased blood sugar level induced by chloroform were more increased by the pretreatment of progesterone.
4. The increased serum total cholesterol content induced by chloroform was not affected by the pretreatment of progesterone but was decreased ´by the pretreatment of vegetable oil.
